2014 Browns MVP Chris Carrison
2014 Browns State Tournament: Chris Carrison named Team SA MVP
A Grade defenceman Chris Carrison was named the 2014 Browns State Team MVP.
Carrision, an inline convert, is in his second season at the club and was his first time representing
the state in Ice Hockey. Carrison was on fire from the start of the tournament which was played in
Perth from the 2nd til the 5th of October. He was an equal leader in the team for both goals and
points while also playing tenacious defence and dishing out some big hits.
Tigers Goaltender Sam O'Neill was crowned as the tournaments best keeper, playing all games for SA
including a nail biting Bronze medal game against NSW. Unfortunately despite O'Neill and Carrison's
heroics team SA went down 2-1, it took 2 overtimes and a shoot out to determine the game.
Another Redwing Bill Newbound scored the game tying goal towards the end of the second period.
Mat Gaspari's forecheck caused the NSW defenceman to lose the puck as he attempted to skate out
of the zone, Newbound pounced on the loose puck and picked the top corner with a beautiful shot
from the left face off dot.
Team SA was also named the leagues fairest team with the least accrued penalty minutes.
