Remy McGuiness, our rookie A grade young gun made his AIHL debut for the Adelaide Adrenaline on the weekend against the Newcastle North Stars.

 

Stepping on the ice late in the third period of the teams first meeting of the weekend, his first shift was while the team was shorthanded. Remy is known for being a fierce competitor and did not hesitate to put his body on the line, blocking two hard shots to try help kill off the teams penalty. The Adrenaline would ultimately go down 6-3.

 

Sundays game saw Remy given the opportunity to show what he had, often featuring on the second line. Midway through the third period scored the games tying goal. After digging the puck out of the corner he crashed the net and poked home a loose puck. The Adrenaline went on to win 3-2 in a shootout.

 

McGuiness, 17, has played at the Redwings since been drafted out of the Bantams league at the start of the 2011 season. After 3 years and 2 Premierships in B Grade, Remy now plays in the clubs A grade side, where he currently has 1 goal in 3 games.

 

He has also recently played for the Perth Pelicans in the Australian National Junior League and represented his country at the IIHF World U/18's Championships where the team won Gold.
